CP42 inspections for Nottingham kitchens
Commercial kitchens carry a higher gas risk than most premises because of the number of appliances, high heat and heavy extraction. We inspect ranges, fryers, chargrills, ovens, woks and bratt pans, test flame supervision and pressures, and confirm the kitchen meets the ventilation requirements of BS 6173.
Environmental health officers and insurers routinely ask to see a valid CP42, so we schedule inspections around service times to avoid disrupting trade.
Gas interlocks and ventilation
Where mechanical extraction is installed, a gas interlock must cut the gas supply if the fans stop. Our engineer tests the interlock and proving system as part of the CP42. If one is missing or faulty we explain the requirement and give a written quote to fit or repair it.
Frequently asked questions
What is a CP42 certificate?
A CP42 is the industry form used to record a gas safety inspection of commercial catering appliances and the associated ventilation and interlock systems.
Does my kitchen need a gas interlock?
If your kitchen uses mechanical extraction, BS 6173 requires an interlock that shuts off the gas if the ventilation fails. We test it during every CP42.
How often is a CP42 needed?
Catering gas appliances should be inspected at least every 12 months, and after any significant change to the kitchen's gas installation or ventilation.
